17 April 2026(2 events) Presbítero — Memoria libre Nació en Mantua (Italia) en 1447. Entró muy joven en los carmelitas de Ferrara. Profesor de Teología en varios centros, escribió numerosas obras en latín muy elegante. Fue seis veces vicario general de la Congregación Mantuana. En 1513 fue elegido prior general de toda la Orden. Reconocido humanista e inspiradísimo poeta, fue amigo de los mayores eruditos de su tiempo y mereció ser conocido como «el Virgilio cristiano». Participó en el IV Concilio Lateranense y fue delegado del Papa en algunas misiones diplomáticas. Murió en Mantua en 1516. Su culto litúrgico fue aprobado en 1885 por el papa León XIII. 17 April 2026 Priest — Optional MemorialBaptist Spagnoli was born at Mantua, Italy, on April 17, 1447, and entered the Carmelite Congregation of Mantua as a youth at Ferrara. He was professed in 1464, and thereafter filled a number of offices at various locations. Having been Vicar General of his Congregation six times, he was elected Prior General of the whole Order in 1513. He died at Mantua on March 20, 1516. His virtue was outstanding, in particular his love for the Church, and he spared no effort in the cause of reform. He is considered one of the best poets of his age. |
18 April 2026(1 event) Religious — Optional Memorial🇫🇷 In France: MemorialBarbe Avrillot was born in Paris in 1566. At the age of sixteen she married Pierre Acarie, by whom she had seven children. Through her household duties and many hardships, she attained the heights of the mystical life. Under the influence of Saint Teresa’s writings, and after mystical contact with the saint herself, she spared no effort in introducing the Discalced Carmelite Nuns into France. After her husband’s death, she asked to be admitted among them as a lay sister, taking the name of Mary of the Incarnation; she was professed at the Carmel of Amiens in 1615. She was esteemed by some of the greatest men of her time, including Saint Francis de Sales; and she was distinguished by her spirit of prayer and her zeal for the extension of the Catholic Faith. She died at Pontoise on April 18, 1618. |

She lived joyfully, body and soul, the mystery of the Cross in full conformity to the will of God, and she was outstanding for her love for the Eucharist, and her maternal care for children and for the poor. She died at Campi Bisenzio on 23rd April, 1910. |

28 April 2026(1 event) 28 April 2026 Virgin — Optional Memorial María Felicia Guggiari Echeverría, known as Chiquitunga, was born in Villarica, Paraguay, on 12 January 1925. As a member of Catholic Action, she lived her commitment to the Association in the service of children, the poor and the sick, until, at the age of thirty, she entered the Carmelite monastery in Asunción. In January 1959, she discovered she was ill with infectious hepatitis, and offered her condition to God with generosity and apostolic intention. She died on 28 April 1959, at the age of 34. Her mortal remains have rested in the Carmelite Chapel in Asunción since 1993. |
