Father Mariano Agruda III was born on October 30, 1963, in Cebu City, Philippines. He completed his primary and secondary studies at the Jesuit run Sacred Heart School in Cebu City. He finished a degree in Biology at Cebu Doctors’ College and philosophy at the Maryhill School of Theology in Manila. He completed his degree in theology at the Loyola School of Theology at the Jesuit run Ateneo de Manila University where he also finished his Master’s degree. He did post-graduate studies on Mysticism and Human Sciences at the Catholic University of Avila through the International Teresian-Sanjuanist Center (Centro Internacional Teresiano Sanjuanista) in Spain.
As Definitor General for the countries of Eastern Asia—Oceania, he is at the service of the communities in his geographical jurisdiction. Together with the other Definitors, he assists the Superior General in the government of the Order (cfr. C 179-180). He is responsible for promoting better communication and authentic collaboration between our communities in Eastern Asia—Oceania and the Centre of the Order.
