On 13th May 1997, Fr. Camillo Maccise, General at the time, inaugurated the OCD Province of Central America. It comprises six different nations: Panama. Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala. The 25th anniversary of the foundation was celebrated this year on 13 May with a Mass in the Parish of St. John of the Cross in El Salvador. The presiding Prelate was Mons. Oswald Escobar Aguilar OCD.
A new enterprise had also begun this year. The first Provincial meeting of the Teresian Carmel Councils of Nuns, Friars and OCDS concluded on 13th May. This was the result of many years of collaboration and dialogue between the different branches of the Order.
At this anniversary, we congratulate our Brothers and Sisters, thanking the Lord for what has already been accomplished while hoping and praying that their motto may continue to thrive: “Aventuremos la vida”.
