Prophet — Optional Memorial

Elisha, the disciple and successor of the prophet Elijah, is known from the Bible in the two books of Kings. The narrative of his prophetic activity bears many similarities to that of Elijah, so much so that it has been seen as a doublet of the same tradition. Nevertheless, the figure of Elisha bears witness to the fact that Elijah's mission was continued, as is likely, by disciples who had "a double share of his spirit" and who, like their master, were capable of authenticating their words through prodigies.
