Frances of Amboise (1427-1485) married Pierre II, Duke of Brittany, at the age of 15. Widowed at the age of 30, she vowed not to remarry. With the help of Blessed Jean Soreth, she founded a monastery of nuns near Vannes, where she took the habit. Her concern for the poor, her Marian piety, her zeal for maintaining the fervour of religious life and her devotion to the Eucharist were just some of the features that characterised the spiritual character of the "Good Duchess".
