Virgin — Optional Memorial
Anna Maria Tauscher was born in 1855 in Sandow, Brandenburg - now in Poland - of deeply religious Lutheran parents. She was brought up in this faith, but in 1888 she joined the Catholic Church and was expelled from her home and work. She found refuge in a religious institute, then in a family. Her journey of faith continued and, after reading the "Life" of Saint Thérèse of Jesus, she decided to dedicate herself to Carmel; but the Lord, through her, wanted to establish a new institute, attached to the Carmel of Thérèse, and so in 1891, in Berlin, the Congregation of the "Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus" was born. She devoted her life to caring for needy children and died in Sittard, Holland, in 1938.
