Virgin — Optional Memorial

Josephine Catanea was born in Naples on 18 February 1894. She entered the Carmelite monastery of Santa Maria ai Ponti Rossi and made her solemn profession on 6 August 1933. In 1945, she was elected prioress. She withstood the harsh trials of illness and persecution by abandoning herself to the will of God. She captivated those who approached her with her deep spirituality, humility and simplicity, instilling hope and trust in God and the Blessed Virgin. She died in Naples on 14 March 1948.
