The last day of work<\/span>. <\/span>On Saturday evening, the draft of the final document fr<\/span>om the Goa Extraordinary Definitory was distributed to the members of the Definitory. <\/span>The first morning session on Sunday took place in the geographic-linguistic groups, who examined and <\/span>discussed the proposed text, p<\/span>roposing <\/span>possible<\/span> additions or modifications. The result of the shared analysis was delivered by the secretaries of each group to the moderators, who integrated into the draft the observations made.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, at the Old Goa<\/span> Cathedral<\/span>,<\/span> Fr. General presided <\/span>at <\/span>the opening session of <\/span>a<\/span> Seminar on the history and contribution of the <\/span>Discalced<\/span> Carmelites in India, <\/span>during w<\/span>hich<\/span>,<\/span> conferences will be given of a <\/span>historical, artistic-architectural and <\/span>s<\/span>piritual<\/span> nature<\/span>,<\/span> giving <\/span>a look at the challenges <\/span>in<\/span> India today.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the last official session held in the <\/span>Great <\/span>Hall, the definitive text <\/span>of the message was presented and approved unanimously. <\/span><\/p>\n

After final <\/span>speeches<\/span> of summary,<\/span> thanks and farewell by Fr Johannes Gorantla and the General, the 2019 Extraordinary General Definitory was declared concluded with the singing of the \u201c<\/span>Flos<\/span> Carmeli<\/span>\u201d. <\/span><\/p>\n

At 4:00 p.m., in the <\/span>Old Goa<\/span> Cathedral, took place the commemorative celebr<\/span>ation of the IV Centenary of the arrival of Carmel in India. <\/span>Presiding<\/span> at the Eucharist was Mons. Felipe <\/span>Neri<\/span>, Archbishop of Goa, and concelebrating with him were <\/span>Mons. <\/span>Derek <\/span>Fernandes<\/span> (<\/span>B<\/span>ishop<\/span> of<\/span>Karwar<\/span>)<\/span>, <\/span>Mons. <\/span>Luis Pablo D\u2019Souza (<\/span>emeritus Bishop of<\/span>Mangalore), <\/span>as well as<\/span>, natural<\/span>ly, our General, Fr <\/span>Saverio <\/span>Cannistr\u00e0<\/span>, <\/span>the General Definitors, the members of the Extraordinar<\/span>y Definitory, and also a considerable numbers of priests. <\/span>Also attending the ceremony were Discalced Carmelite students who had come fro<\/span>m all over India for this extraordinary occasion. <\/span>Besides the 220 concelebrants, <\/span>fill<\/span>ing<\/span> the enormous baroque cathedral<\/span> was a multitude of faithful, Secular Carmelites, religious from the various Carmelite congregations born in<\/span> India (the most numerous has more than 6,000 Sisters<\/span>). <\/span><\/p>\n

After the <\/span>M<\/span>ass, under an immense <\/span>marquee <\/span>prepared for the occasion, the official celebration of the fourth centenary <\/span>unfolded, <\/span>during which <\/span>were<\/span> choir performances <\/span>by<\/span> the<\/span> almost 60 students from Karnataka-Goa, the panegyrics, the official speeches of Pre<\/span>late<\/span>s, <\/span>as well as typical music and dances<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now <\/span>we go back <\/span>to the daily rhythm of life, work and mission, with the pride of being the bearers of a valuable gift and with the humility of those who know that “all is <\/span>a g<\/span>race”<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
