ROME (24-12-2009).- The people that walked in darkness has seen a great light; on those who lived in a land of deep shadow a light has shone. With these words of Isaiah, Fr. General introduced his Christmas greetings to the entire Teresian Carmelite Order.
In his Christmas message the General of the Discalced Carmelites invites the whole Order to listen to the voice of the angel that announces the fulfilment of Gods promises in a way that surpasses all imaginable hopes: in the arms of Mary and Joseph we find the Child wrapped in swaddling clothes and laid in a manger. It is the Good News that demonstrates the love of God to the extreme of assuming our flesh, of sharing our life, far beyond our inexistent merits.
Fr. Xavier quotes the burning words of St. Teresa reminding us that only in Christ made-man can we encounter the meaning of our own lives in communion with God: (St. Teresa of Jesus, Life).
