Communicationes ROME (14-12-2009).- Fr. General emphasised the necessity of journeying on the pathways of the interior life day by day, following the inspiration and example of St. John of the Cross. This is the surest way to encounter the only truth that ¡§enlightens the mind, frees the will, warms the heart, nourishes the body and unites the lover and Loved One as a single entity¡¨
Fr. Xavier explained that ¡§this is what we are searching for¡¨ and he pointed out Sts. Teresa and John of the Cross who, ¡§always with staff in hand¡¨, were witnesses to that interior journey. ¡§We cannot consider ourselves sons of these parents, if we are not interiorly disposed to making a similar journey¡¨, he continued.
Fr. General was addressing the whole Order as he celebrated Mass in honour of St. John of the Cross in the choir of the Teresianum in Rome. Three students of the International College were making their Solemn Profession during the ceremony.
During his homily Fr. General also said that the three Solemnly Professed, Brs. Samuel Bijoy (South Kerala), Rajendaprasad (Andra Pradesh Commissariat) and Joemon (Manjummel), by professing chastity, poverty and obedience were doing nothing other than freeing themselves from anything that might hold them back from the journey they were prepared to undertake.¡¨
Fr. General was accompanied at the celebration by the General Definitors, Emilio J. MartiVnez, Albert Wach, Augustine Mulloor and Robert Paul and by the various Superiors in the Teresianum: Zachary Igirukwayo (Permanent Community), Charles Serrao (International Theological College) and NicolaVs GarciVa (Specialization Community). Fr. Datius Kanjiramukil, Provincial of Manjummel, was also in attendance as were some other hundred priests and religious from different Congregations.
