Curia OCD ROMA (11-02-2008).- The OCD General Definitory, as part of its project to enhance the life of the Order, is to promote, a Congress on the Liturgy and the Teresian Carmel, October 2-5 2008.
The objective of the Congress: to understand the relationship between liturgy and life, foccussing on the themes:
a)The experience of liturgical prayer in the teresian Carmel;
b)The effect of the liturgy on our personal, community and apostolic lives (Const. 56);
c)The actual relationship between liturgy, Word and the contemplative dimension of our lives.
We want to reflect on prayer and ask ourselves, according to the teaching of Vatican II, how liturgy is the source and culmination of our lives as Christians, its very breath; and how it is an immersion into the Pascal Mystery, a mystagogical experience on both a personal and community level.
Those for whom the Congress is intended: the Teresian Carmel in Europe and the Mediterranean area, and in particular for: male and female Formators and Superiors, Parish Priests and those who run centres of spirituality or prayer, our Nuns, those responsible for the OCDS and Carmelite Movements.
The number of participants: every Province should strive to send at least 3 members, as representatives of the above mentioned categories.
Our Discalced Carmelite Sisters, following the instructions given by the CIVCSVA, in Verbi sponsa, 19, may chose to send one nun per Federation.
We hope that the Institutes affiliated to our Order will be present.
The level of the Congress will not be too academic in order to ensure that everyone will be able to fully participate and then, after the Congress, for it to be an effective means for deepening awareness in the respective Regions.
The themes to be discussed at the Congress: the programme consists of 9 conferences with workshops: the relationship between architecture and liturgy, symbolism and liturgy (a guided tour of the Redemptoris Mater chapel), a musical presentation and animation of a typical Carmelite liturgy.
The title of the conference: Liturgy in the Teresian Carmel. The effect it has on enhancing our personal, community and apostolic lives.
The location of the Congress: at the Teresianums Pontifical Theological Faculty, Piazza S. Pancrazio 5/a 00152 Rome.
