The General Council of the Carmelites and the Definitory of the Discalced Carmelites, at which presided their respective Fathers General, Fernando Millán, OCarm, and Saverio Cannistrà, OCD, met recently at the Provincial House of the OCarm friars, in Gort Muire, Dublin, between the 27th and the 30th of May. This meeting was part of the periodical meetings which both councils have together and which are normally held in Rome. However, a longer meeting is held every so often in which, apart from dealing with the issues concerning collaboration between the two Orders, a formation topic is addressed. In this case the chosen argument was Mission in today’s world. As is traditional, after the meeting is over, a conclusive document will be prepared to share with all the members of the Teresian Carmel and the Ancient Observance.
