Biography

Romano Gambalunga was born in Trent in September 1970. He made his solemn profession as a Discalced Carmelite on 5th October, 1996, and was ordained to the priesthood on June 15, 1997.

He was a Formator in the International College of Discalced Carmelites in Rome from 1998 to 2001. In 1999 he received a licentiate in Spiritual Theology from the Institute of Spirituality of the Teresianum Theological Faculty in Rome and in 2002, a licentiate in Philosophy and Mysticism from the St. Anselm Pontifical Atheneum in Rome.

In 2011, he received a doctorate in History of Theology from the Mabillon Institute of the St. Anselm Pontifical Atheneum in Rome.

He has been a guest professor in the Teresianum Theological Faculty in Rome where he teaches courses in “Spiritual Theology,” “Introduction to Theology,” and “Mysticism and Theology: The Theological Experience of Saint John of the Cross.”

He was named Postulator General of the Order on June 6, 2012

 

Activity

As Postulator General, he follows personally all the processes of each one of our Causes in Rome, leading to Beatification or Canonization; during the diocesan stage he counts on the collaboration of Vice-postulators.
