Biography

Father Lukasz was born on June 19, 1959, in Opole, southwestern Poland. He completed his studies in the technological university, specializing in electronics. After serving as a fireman for three years, he entered the Discalced Carmelite novitiate in Czerna in 1984. He professed his first vows in 1985. He completed his studies in philosophy in Poznan, and theology in the International Theological College of Saint John of the Cross in Rome.

He made his solemn profession in 1990 and was ordained to the priesthood by Saint John Paul II on May 25, 1991, in Rome.

He received his licentiate in spiritual theology from the Teresianum Pontifical Institute in Rome.

On returning to his native land, he was appointed Associate of the Student Master in Krakow and subsequently Novice Master of the newly created Discalced Carmelite Province of Warsaw.

In February 1996 he was appointed superior of the Desert House of Prayer in Drzewina, where he remained until May 2014, with a brief hiatus of a year during which he was Student Master in Poznan. On May 8, 2014, he was elected Provincial of the Discalced Carmelite Province of Warsaw.

Activity

He is principally in charge of the circumscriptions of Central and Eastern Europe, specifically, the German, Austrian, Croatian, and Hungarian provinces which, at the present time, cover a total of 22 different countries: Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Albania, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Lithonia, Byelorussia, Ukraine, Russia, Norway, and Iceland.
