Fr. Attilio Ghisleri OCD, Nominated as General Delegate for Israel

The General Definitory has nominated Fr.Attilio Ghisleri OCD as the new General Delegate for Israel. He had served as General Bursar until recently.

He was born in Bassano, Brescia on 26 October 1940 and entered the Minor Seminary at Adro in 1953. He made his Simple and Solemn Professions in 1958 and 1962 respectively and was ordained Priest in Venice on 25 March 1966.

The following are some of the relevant details of his years of service in the Order:

Licence in Theology at the Angelicum, Rome in 1967.

Doctorate in Modern Literature at the Catholic University of Milan in 1971.

Qualified as a teacher of Literature and Latin for second level schools of higher education.

Doctorate in Sociology at “La Sapienza” University of Rome in 1976.

Teacher of Italian and History for 24 years in public schools.

Local and national Assistant to OCDS for a number of years.

Ministry in parishes of the Diocese of Mantova and Director of Retreats and Formation Courses for different monasteries and Religious Institutes.

Called to Rome as General Bursar in 1996 and began his work in the General Curia in July 1997.
